The remains of the two canal bridges at Grafton South. The red brick abutment carried the MSW over the canal (bridge No. 35) and the lower grey stone abutment carried the line down to Wolfhall Junction (bridge No. 34).

The closure of the route via Savernake High Level in September 1958 was announced as 'temporary' pending strengthening of bridge No. 35 over the canal and bridge No. 36 over the West of England main line. It was of course to prove permanent with the dismantling of bridges and the lifting of the track from Grafton South to Savernake High Level.
